This is its second consecutive Exceeding rating, having previously been rated Exceeding in September 2022 under the same provider.
The centre has been providing kindergarten programs for 3 and 4-year-olds since 2008 across two separate classrooms, each with adjoining adventure playgrounds. Its educational philosophy centres on nurturing every child to feel valued so the best possible outcomes can be achieved. Programs support holistic development across language, social, emotional, physical, creative and intellectual domains through a play-based programme following the Early Years Learning Framework.
What distinguishes Buddies is its enrichment program. In addition to the core curriculum, the centre provides regular excursions, music, yoga, Hebrew and sport programs delivered by qualified specialist teachers. With 49 approved places, Buddies is a mid-sized centre that maintains an intimate feel while offering a breadth of programming typically found in larger centres.
The daily fee of $155.00 includes afternoon tea, breakfast, education programs, excursions and incursions, lunch, morning tea and nappies. The centre operates 7:30am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday and is CCS approved with integrated Free Kinder programs.
What parents say
Buddies ranks first in Bentleigh 3204 on the newest and strongest Exceeding result of the three ranked centres: all seven quality areas Exceeding, confirmed November 2025, its second consecutive Exceeding cycle. Families should weigh that against its parent reviews, which are the weakest of the three ranked centres: a 3.2 rating from 13 parent reviews and 4.0 from 12 on Google, with several recent 1-star reviews raising concerns about communication and classroom management. The NQS assessment measures regulatory quality, not day-to-day parent experience, and the two metrics tell different stories here. If parent sentiment matters more to you than assessment recency, Buckets at No.2 is the stronger choice. Visit both in person before deciding.
Best for: Families who want a centre with the strongest possible NQS result, Exceeding across all seven quality areas confirmed in November 2025, and a curriculum enriched with music, yoga, Hebrew and sport programs.
