Two Guardian centres on East Boundary Road hold the top places. Guardian Childcare & Education Bentleigh (Exceeding NQS, $182.97/day at every age) is first; its name says Bentleigh, but it sits in Bentleigh East 3165. Guardian Childcare & Education Bentleigh East (Exceeding NQS, $203.52/day for 0 to 35 months, $201.29 from 36 months) is second, and Buckets Early Learning Centre (Meeting NQS, $193.60/day) third. Figures are from Starting Blocks as read on 20 October 2026.

How we chose: we weigh five things together: NQS rating and how recently it was issued, parent reviews, program and environment, fees and inclusions, and practical fit including hours and Free Kinder access. Regulatory detail and operational conditions
Trades under the Bentleigh name, yet the ACECQA register and Google Maps agree it is in Bentleigh East 3165. Exceeding in all seven quality areas, a rise from its January 2023 Meeting rating, under the same provider. Exceeding is the ceiling of a standard assessment; ACECQA separately awards Excellent, on application, to a very small number of services. Two conditions sit on its approval, both about the yard layout: play equipment must stand 1.9m or more clear of the boundary fence; also, it must be placed to meet the Australian playground standard's fall zones.

This Guardian centre stands at 31 East Boundary Road and holds 118 approved places. Children from six weeks to six years are spread over four age groups. Babies stay in the nursery until 18 months, toddlers move up at roughly 30 months, then come two preschool rooms, the older taking children from about 42 months until school.
Its July 2026 assessment placed all seven quality areas above the standard, a clear step up from the Meeting result of January 2023, when only family and community partnerships had gone beyond it. The approval passed to Guardian in August 2017, so both ratings belong to it. Two yard-layout conditions attach to the approval.
The program is Guardian's To BE Me framework, with the Flying Start to School kindergarten taught by teachers over the two years before school. The centre says the Victorian Government funds as much as 15 hours of Free Kinder weekly. A chef cooks every meal on site from seasonal menus, and outdoors a bike track loops past the veggie garden, sandpits and water play.
At $182.97 for every age group, Starting Blocks counts six items as included: breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, nappies and the educational program. Every weekday showed casual as well as permanent openings at our check. The number on this card rings the centre itself; the Google listing carries the network's 1300 number instead.
Our take
Same operator, same programs, same 6:30am to 6:30pm hours and the same July 2026 result as its sister centre at number 236, so first place came down to price. This one costs $20.55 less a day for under-threes and $18.32 less from three, and still supplies nappies for older children. Its 4.6 across 63 Google reviews is a solid record. Do note the name: whatever the sign says, this is a Bentleigh East centre.
Best for: Parents wanting an Exceeding-rated centre with a 6:30am start, one flat price from babyhood to school, and a two-year teacher-led kinder.
Raised from Meeting (December 2022) to Exceeding in every quality area, both results under Guardian. Its own website calls Exceeding the best you can receive, but ACECQA's separate Excellent award, granted on application, sits above it. The approval is free of conditions.

The register gives this service's address as 236 East Boundary Road, but Guardian's own page directs families to 15 Curtin Street, with entry at the corner of Curtin and Barrington Streets. Its 124 approved places make it the larger Guardian campus, though Buckets holds more. Families move from a nursery, for under-twos, into the toddler group at two, then a kinder group covering three to five; no minimum starting age is published.
Every quality area was rated Exceeding in July 2026, an advance from the December 2022 Meeting result, when governance was its only area beyond Meeting. The approval has been with Guardian since May 2015, so both results are its own, and the approval is condition-free.
Kinder is the Flying Start to School program, led by degree-qualified teachers; the centre reports receiving state Free Kinder funding. The site describes an extensive outdoor area and recently refurbished rooms, with ELLA language sessions, cooking and sustainability among the regular activities.
Fees are $203.52 a day below three years and $201.29 once a child turns three. Starting Blocks lists breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and the educational program at every age, plus nappies only for the younger bands; the site promises nappies, wipes and outings for everyone, so ask which is right. Both booking types had weekday openings.
Our take
Rated the same as number 31, on the same day, by the same operator, this campus loses only on cost: it runs $20.55 a day dearer for babies and toddlers. We hold no confirmed Google figure, because its listing sits under the Curtin Street entrance rather than the registered address, so reviews could not be weighed. Choose it if the extra space or the Curtin Street entry suits your drop-off.
Best for: Families who prefer Guardian's bigger campus, with ELLA languages, cooking and sustainability woven into a recently refurbished space.
Meeting throughout, matching May 2021. Approved in 2013 and never transferred; no conditions apply.

Buckets occupies a purpose-built building on the corner of Centre Road and Wards Grove, with 128 approved places, outnumbering either Guardian. This is a separate service from the Buckets on Tucker Road that ranks on our Bentleigh page. The rooms are spread across two levels, and every room opens onto its own indoor and outdoor learning space.
Weekly music, movement and yoga classes run through the program, kindergarten groups head out for Bush Kinder each week, and chefs plan seasonal menus. The group's site describes government-funded kinder for children aged three and four, with qualified teachers leading it, but does not name the Centre Road centre, so ask how it runs here.
Its newest assessment, May 2025, returned Meeting on every area, repeating May 2021, when it also held Meeting throughout. No other eligible Meeting centre here has a newer result. No conditions apply, nothing has transferred since approval in January 2013, and the enforcement count is zero.
The fee is $193.60 at any age, up 4.20% from $185.80 in May 2026, and Starting Blocks lists no inclusions against it. Starting Blocks gives a 7:00am to 7:00pm day, while its website says it closes at 6:30pm, so check pick-up time before relying on it. Openings existed for casual bookings and permanent ones alike.
Our take
Excellent Education & Care, the next centre in line, was assessed precisely a year before Buckets, so the two tied on rating. Excellent costs $33.60 a day less with seven inclusions; Buckets is nearly four times the size, publishes vacancies and keeps longer hours. With that split, the review record had to decide: Buckets holds 4.5 from 30 Google reviews, Excellent 5.0 from 15. We weighted the deeper record, so the lower score ranks higher here.
Best for: Parents seeking a big centre with open places now who like weekly Bush Kinder and yoga in the program.
Full-day rates per Starting Blocks on 20 October 2026, each centre CCS approved. Guardian Bentleigh East's $203.52 applies until a child turns three, so the gap to Guardian Bentleigh is $20.55 under three and $18.32 from three. Buckets shows an empty inclusions list there, which does not prove nothing is supplied; check with the centre.
Childcare fees vary by age group. The rates shown may reflect different age bands at different centres, so confirm the rate for your child's age directly with each centre.
Searching for long day care in Bentleigh East 3165? Starting Blocks lists nineteen services in this Glen Eira suburb, and nine of them run a full day. The other ten are four standalone kindergartens, one school-based kinder, four outside school hours care services and one vacation care service. One ranked centre trades under the Bentleigh name although the register places it here, and a different Buckets service, on Tucker Road, appears on our Bentleigh ranking.
Eight of those nine were assessed for this page. Gan Gabi & Rivki ELC was set aside because it operates on a faith campus without published enrolment terms, leaving public access unconfirmed. Two of the eight are run by parent associations, two by Goodstart and two by Guardian, while the rest are independent.
Both Guardians were rated Exceeding in July 2026 while every other eligible service holds Meeting, so rating level settles first and second. Third place was closer: Buckets and Excellent Education were assessed exactly twelve months apart, which counts as a tie under our method, and when price favoured one and convenience the other, the deeper Google review record broke it.
Looking wider? Our Bayside & Inner South guide lists every suburb we rank across the area, with each one's top centres.
Bentleigh East 3165 sits within Glen Eira. Bentleigh is a separate suburb with its own postcode, 3204, and one service registered here carries the Bentleigh name.
Subsidy approval
Starting Blocks shows CCS approval for each centre on this list. What a family receives is means-tested on income and approved activity, and the subsidy comes off each invoice.
Kinder within care hours
Both Guardians name the Free Kinder program and teach a two-year Flying Start to School kinder. Buckets' group site describes funded programs for three and four year olds, so confirm the arrangement for Centre Road.
Check the inclusions list
Starting Blocks shows six items at Guardian Bentleigh, five or six at Guardian Bentleigh East depending on age, and none at Buckets. Websites sometimes promise more, such as outings, so ask for the list in writing.

Frequently asked questions
Is Guardian Bentleigh actually in Bentleigh, or Bentleigh East?
Bentleigh East. The centre at 31 East Boundary Road carries the Bentleigh name, but both the ACECQA register and its Google Maps listing put it in Bentleigh East 3165, which is why it appears here and not in our Bentleigh ranking.
Why are two Guardian centres ranked first and second?
They are the only eligible Exceeding services in Bentleigh East, both assessed in July 2026; every other eligible centre holds Meeting. The two tied on rating, so fees separated them: number 31 charges $182.97 at every age, number 236 asks $203.52 for under-threes and $201.29 after that.
Why does Buckets outrank Excellent Education & Care, which scores 5.0 on Google?
Buckets and Excellent Education drew level on rating date; their fees and practical fit pulled in opposite directions. Our method then turns to reviews weighted for volume. Buckets' 4.5 rests on 30 reviews, Excellent's 5.0 on 15, and we treat the larger sample as stronger evidence.
Can a centre rate higher than Exceeding?
Exceeding is the best result from a standard assessment. Excellent sits above it, a separate ACECQA award that services must apply for, and very few hold it. No Bentleigh East service in this ranking does.
Why is Gan Gabi & Rivki ELC not ranked?
It runs on a faith campus and its website states no enrolment criteria, leaving open whether any family may enrol. Only services open to public enrolment are ranked, so it appears with the other services.
