The Best Childcare Centres in Cranbourne West

Story House Early Learning Cranbourne at 29-31 Universal Way is a 70-place centre for children from six weeks to five years, open 6:30am to 6:00pm on weekdays. Its trading name says Cranbourne, but Google Maps and the national register both place it in Cranbourne West, which is why it is ranked on this page.

Its February 2023 assessment returned Exceeding overall, with educational program and practice, relationships with children, family partnerships and governance rated above the standard, and its January 2018 result was also Exceeding. A national group has run the service since 13 October 2023, so both ratings were issued under the previous operator. A regulatory visit in May 2026 recorded no enforcement actions, and the approval carries no conditions.

The fee is $157.60 a day up to 35 months and $155.30 from 36 months. Starting Blocks lists no inclusions against that rate, so ask the centre what it covers before comparing it with centres that itemise theirs. The group's STRONG Beginnings curriculum, an inquiry-based approach built on the Early Years Learning Framework, runs across nursery, toddler and kindergarten rooms.

Story House takes first place on its rating alone: it is the only Exceeding service among the nine in Cranbourne West, which puts it ahead of every Meeting-rated centre before fees or fit are weighed. Two things to weigh: its current operator took over in October 2023, after both Exceeding assessments, so the rating describes the centre under its previous management; and with 70 places it is the smallest of the three ranked here.

Bluebird Early Education Cranbourne West opened on Central Parkway after its approval in November 2024 and is licensed for 116 places. Its website describes seven studios for children from six weeks to five years and a funded kindergarten program, and it is open 6:30am to 6:30pm on weekdays.

Its first assessment, in December 2025, rated all seven quality areas Meeting. Three conditions sit on the approval, all set for a new building: rooftop play equipment and barriers, monthly evacuation rehearsals, and an expert report on an early evacuation drill. The regulator's last visit, in November 2025, led to no enforcement action.

The fee is $171.50 a day at every age, with eight inclusions on the register, and Starting Blocks showed casual and permanent vacancies Monday to Friday when it was read.

Bluebird is second because its December 2025 rating is more than two years newer than any other Meeting-rated service in the suburb, and a gap that size decides the order at the same level. It is the dearest of the three ranked centres, $14.50 a day above Kool Kidz, and it has a short track record: one assessment, with three start-up conditions still on its approval. Its 5.0 from 45 Google reviews is strong, but reviews did not decide its place.

Kool Kidz West Cranbourne on Whitfield Boulevard is a 130-place, privately owned centre whose owner is also its approved provider. Its centre page describes care from six weeks to six years, a full-time cook preparing five meals a day, and a play-based curriculum built on the Early Years Learning Framework, with outdoor bike tracks, a cubby house and water play.

It runs funded three and four-year-old kindergarten programs taught by registered early childhood teachers. Its October 2023 assessment returned Meeting in each quality area, as the February 2019 one did, with no change of operator in between, and the register shows no conditions and no enforcement actions after a January 2026 visit.

The daily fee is $157.00 at every age, with nine inclusions listed on Starting Blocks. The register showed no vacancies for the week of 19 October 2026, so ask about the waitlist.

Kool Kidz takes third on fees. Its October 2023 rating ties Aspire Cranbourne West, rated the same month, and at $157.00 with nine listed inclusions it undercuts Aspire's $167.00 with eight, while hours are level and capacity is not compared, because Aspire's approved places also cover outside school hours care. It also beats Amiga Montessori on fees and capacity and Imagine on fees. The trade-off is availability: the register showed no places open in the week it was read, and its rating is older than Bluebird's by more than two years. Its 4.9 from 108 Google reviews is the deepest review base of the three.
