A community-run service of 54 approved places on Brunet Street, established in 1976 and managed by a voluntary committee rather than a company or a chain. Four rooms carry children through: the Pike room for under-twos with eight places, Minamberang for two to three year olds with twelve, then Murnong and Warraworrap running the funded three-year-old and four-year-old kindergarten programs with thirteen and twenty places. The same organisation also runs a family day care service, which is a separate approval.

Its February 2024 assessment returned Exceeding overall, ahead of the line in six of the seven quality areas, with physical environment the single one assessed at Meeting. The previous result, from December 2019, was Meeting overall, and the same voluntary committee has run the service since September 2013, so the improvement belongs to the people currently in place rather than to a predecessor. The register also records a regulatory visit in April 2026 that left the rating untouched, and no enforcement action against the service in the past two years.

The fee is $162.00 a day across every age band. The register lists no inclusions against it, so the figure cannot be compared item for item with anything, and the $2.20 gap to the other ranked centre tells you nothing until both explain what they cover. The centre does say all food is cooked on the premises by its own cook, with a menu including vegetarian and halal options, which is a more specific commitment than most pages of this kind carry. Funded three and four-year-old kindergarten runs in the rooms named above.

Two details are worth checking on a tour. Its own website states 7am to 6pm, while the register publishes 6:30am to 6:00pm, and that half-hour at the start of the day matters a great deal if you are banking on the earlier opening. The centre also describes itself as licensed for fifty-four children daily, which matches the register, though the room capacities it publishes add up to fifty-three. Casual and permanent places were both showing Monday to Friday when we read its vacancy grid.

With two centres this close on price, the rating decides it, and the distance is wide: six areas assessed above the standard against none, on an assessment thirteen months newer, earned by a committee that has run the place since 2013. Its rival is marginally cheaper, keeps a longer day and holds more places, which is fair reason to tour both. What tips it is that this result describes the team you would actually meet, while the rival's belongs to a previous owner who left in May 2025. Ask about the 6:30am against 7am discrepancy before committing.

A 71-place service on Mulgoa Avenue, larger than the centre ranked first and keeping a longer day at 6:30am to 6:30pm, half an hour later at the close. It is one of sixty-seven services its operator runs nationally, and it takes children from six months, which is later than the six weeks offered up the road: a family needing infant care before six months should rule it out on that alone. Nursery, toddler and kindergarten rooms cover the rest of the under-school range.

The rating needs reading carefully. It holds Meeting in all seven quality areas from April 2023, and there is no earlier result, but the service approval transferred to its current operator on 5 May 2025, two years after that assessment. So no assessment has yet looked at the team now running it. The regulator visited in August 2026 and issued no new rating. Review texts on its Google listing from two or three years ago name a different brand at this address, which fits a service that has changed hands.

Its $159.80 daily rate is $2.20 below the other ranked centre and, like that centre, carries no inclusion list on the register. The operator states the fee is all-inclusive, covering meals, nappies, wipes, sunscreen, learning programs, extracurricular activities and digital updates, which is a strong claim and not one the register supports either way. Worth noting its own website still advertises $153.40, which matches the register's previous figure from July 2025 rather than the current one, so the site is stale on price.

Practical points in its favour: general availability was showing Monday to Friday when we read the register, it runs an on-site chef and a kitchen garden program, and the building is newer than most of the local stock. Against it, no Free Kinder or funded kindergarten wording appears anywhere we could read, only a room called Kindergarten, so a family needing funded hours should confirm them directly. The operator also lists a second Dandenong North site as coming soon on Carlton Road, which may cause name confusion later.

This is a genuine alternative rather than a filler second place: larger, longer-houred, slightly cheaper, with twenty reviews at 4.8 that are recent enough to describe the current operation. The reason it ranks second is narrow and specific. Its only rating was issued to a company that handed the service on in May 2025, so the page cannot tell you how it performs under the people running it now, while the centre above it holds a six-of-seven Exceeding result earned by its own long-standing team. If the extra half hour and the larger rooms matter, tour both.
