Milestones Early Learning Tarneit operates from 345 Hogans Road in one of Melbourne's fastest-growing outer western suburbs, within the City of Wyndham. The service originally opened in September 2017 and has been managed by Affinity Education Group since June 2021. It holds an Exceeding NQS rating issued July 2023, with six of seven quality areas rated Exceeding and one (Collaborative partnerships with families and communities) rated Meeting. The previous rating under the prior provider was Meeting, issued September 2018. With 130 licensed places serving children from birth to 5 years and an opening time of 6:15am, 15 minutes earlier than any other centre on this list, it is sized and scheduled for the commuting families that define Tarneit's demographic.

The centre is led by Centre Manager Roshani Shetty, supported by Assistant Centre Manager Neha Shah and Educational Leader Aparna Aravind. Parents, in reviews where the service holds a 5.0 out of 5 rating from 78 reviews, frequently name all three leaders by name, an indicator of visible, relationship-driven management. The educator team is notably multicultural, reflecting the cultural and linguistic diversity of the Tarneit community. Programs span nursery care for infants, structured toddler activities, and a government-approved kindergarten program focused on school readiness for eligible 3 and 4-year-olds. The September 2025 regulatory visit found zero enforcement actions and no conditions on the service approval.

The Hogans Road building features dedicated indoor learning zones arranged by age group, each designed for hands-on exploration with age-appropriate resources. A large outdoor playground provides open space for physical activity and nature-based play. The centre's website states that nutritious meals and snacks, including breakfast, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, are prepared fresh on-site daily and included in fees at most Milestones locations, along with nappies and wipes; however, Starting Blocks does not confirm meal inclusions for this service, so families should verify directly with the centre on (03) 8754 8653. Communication with families runs through Storypark, providing photos, learning documentation and daily notifications.

Story House Early Learning Tarneit at 414 Derrimut Road is one of the most distinctive early learning services in Melbourne's west. It operates across two separate campuses at the same address: an East campus for children from 6 weeks to 3 years (178 licensed places) and a West campus for children aged 3 to 5 years (110 licensed places), a total of 288 approved places, making it by far the largest early learning service in Tarneit.

The two-campus model means children transition naturally from one side of the service to the other as they grow, building on established relationships with educators and peers rather than starting fresh at a new centre. Two large outdoor play spaces allow children from different age groups to interact, building social skills and community.

The educational program is guided by the STRONG Beginnings Curriculum, an inquiry-based approach fostering confidence, resilience and emotional wellbeing alongside academic foundations. Programs include STEM, creative arts, yoga, music, cooking and gardening. The team includes three dedicated Early Childhood Teachers. With 16 languages spoken across the educator team, Story House Tarneit reflects and celebrates the suburb's rich cultural diversity.

The December 2024 Meeting NQS reconfirmation and February 2026 regulatory visit with zero enforcement actions reflect a consistently well-run service. No bond or enrolment fee is required.

Explorers Early Learning Tarneit at 80 Homebush Drive is one of the most architecturally impressive early learning centres in Melbourne's west. The purpose-built, two-storey centre features eight rooms, a spacious central piazza, beautifully landscaped outdoor play areas designed for each age group, interactive learning spaces, a top-of-the-line commercial kitchen and a rooftop outdoor play area, a feature genuinely unique in Tarneit's early learning market.

The educational philosophy is grounded in the Reggio Emilia approach, aligned to both the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) and the national Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). The central piazza is the philosophical heart of the centre, a shared gathering space where children from different rooms and age groups come together to collaborate, share ideas and build community.

The Enrichment Program is available to all children at no additional cost. It includes visual arts, musical theatre and sports, structured extracurricular experiences that complement the core Reggio Emilia curriculum. An in-house chef prepares all meals daily. The all-inclusive daily fee of $168 covers afternoon tea, breakfast, lunch, morning tea, nappies, excursions and incursions, and all educational programs, as confirmed by Starting Blocks.

The government-funded kindergarten program for eligible 3 and 4-year-olds is delivered by Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teachers, integrated within long day care hours. The July 2025 regulatory visit found zero conditions, the most recent compliance check of any centre on this list.

What parents say

Explorer's Early Learners is a centre where children thrive and educators are truly supported. I highly recommend it to families and aspiring professionals in the field. Working across different age groups was equally rewarding: in the babies' room I observed how sensory exploration plays a crucial role in early development. With toddlers, language growth and numeracy skills through interactive cooking and movement-based learning. With pre-schoolers, fostering independence and school-readiness through hands-on projects.

Parent review via Google

From someone on the inside, if you are seeking long day care for your child, this centre is well worth checking out. Staff are treated with respect and valued for their contributions. Explorer is a great place with flexible hours, and I would highly recommend it.

Parent review via Google

I was ready to pay for the extra time, but they didn't even charge me. So it was not clearly service and care and love for money. It was passion. Which unfortunately I did not get anywhere near as much elsewhere. Not to mention the food was amazing and nutritious.

Our take

Explorers Tarneit is a genuinely impressive centre. The purpose-built two-storey facility, rooftop play area, Reggio Emilia curriculum, all-inclusive fee structure confirmed by Starting Blocks, and a 4.9/5 parent rating from 90 reviews make it one of the most complete early learning environments in Melbourne's west. It is ranked third here on the basis of its current Meeting NQS rating per the authoritative Starting Blocks record, and because it is the most expensive of the three at $168 per day. The July 2025 regulatory visit with zero conditions is the most recent compliance clearance of any centre on this list.

Best for: Families who want a premium, architecturally designed Reggio Emilia centre with a unique enrichment program, rooftop outdoor play and the most comprehensive Starting Blocks-confirmed fee inclusions of any centre on this list.
