“We enrolled our child at Aurora Early Education Doncaster this time last year and have been extremely happy with the care provided. The educators in our child’s room are incredibly warm, nurturing, and—just as importantly—consistent. Seeing familiar faces each day has made a significant difference to our child’s sense of security. The mixed-age classroom has been a wonderful environment for development. When our child was younger, he benefited from observing and learning from older peers, and now they have the opportunity to show care towards younger children. The activities are thoughtfully planned, and we always look forward to the daily updates that highlight what the children have been learning. The Aurora app offers insights into the daily menu as well as real-time updates on naps, nappy changes, and meals. As first-time parents, this level of transparency has been incredibly reassuring. The centre itself is clean, calm, and well-maintained. During times of illness outbreaks, communication is prompt and transparent, with clear information about cases and the measures being taken to manage them. The team is approachable, responsive, and genuinely values building strong partnerships with families. Their connection with the wider community also adds a special dimension, fostering a sense of belonging for both children and parents. Overall, this centre consistently goes above and beyond. “I couldn’t be more happy with our time at Aurora Doncaster. My daughter started at 17mths old, in the thick of Covid and lockdown and Aurora still managed to make it such a connected experience for us where we didn’t feel like we were missing out on her bigger moments. Over the years, with the support of her amazing educators, we’ve seen our little girl grow into a strong, friendly, confident and bubbly child. The team at Aurora worked with us every step of the way to ensure our daughter was supported in her personal development, education and forming relationships. Aurora has been a home away from home, and part of her extended family. The staff, from management, the office team, the chef (my daughter always goes on about the delicious meals they get) to the educators have always gone above and beyond to not only accommodate our wishes but to work with us as a team to develop this toddler into a self assured, clever and vibrant child. “Our son started here after about a month after the centre opened. While the centre had some breaking in issues it is now running very smooth. The centre itself is very well designed! Open bright spaces which were specially designed and built for the childcare centre which was unlike many other centres in the area which tend to have smaller rooms since they are modified from existing houses. The educator and staff here are all really friendly and warm. They have help tremendously in helping our son settle in the new environment. I have also noticed that a lot of the toys and equipment they use here are of high quality (e.g. hape, Melissa & doug brand etc). They also have an app that you can use to see what your child has had for meals, sleep times and nappy changes. And they also try to do daily updates of the activities of the day with photos through the app! They have a lunch menu with food from different countries nearly everyday (I think it may be on a 2 or 3 week rotation). Our take
Aurora is the strongest of the Meeting-rated services. Its rating sits within 12 months of Wonderland's and Playhouse's, leaving the decision to fees and fit. Against Wonderland, which publishes no fee on Starting Blocks, capacity decides: 116 places against 77. Against Playhouse the criteria split, Playhouse slightly cheaper at $187.00 and Aurora larger at 116 places against 57, and reviews settle it, 151 against 24. It sits below the two Exceeding centres on rating level.
Best for: Parents who put weight on a long parent-review record and a full meals-and-nappies rate, and can accept Meeting rather than Exceeding.
