What parents say

Fantastic staff with good retention. Passionate and engaging educators. My children are very happy here and the administrations flexibility and support of families, is like no other childcare.Tara Lintenbrink via Google
If you're looking for a centre with bells and whistles and apps to tell you what's happening every minute, this isn't it. But if you're looking for a centre that cares for your child as if they were their own, then Mentone Childcare & Kindergarten is for you! We've had the bells & whistles experience, but since moving to Mentone, we've had happier children, educator continuity (so important!) and far far far fewer incident reports. The food is fantastic and my son asks for it at home, all the educators know my kids names and greet them warmly when we arrive. My eldest is starting school in 2026, and i have no concerns about his readiness with the kinder program, he's writing, reading short words, and teaching me sign language! We are truely happy with the centre, its small but a beautiful community, and i couldn't recommend it more.Romy Perrie via Google
Our take

Mentone Childcare & Kindergarten is the most flexible of the three on scheduling, though not on price, which it does not publish. With 117 places and occasional and casual care options, it suits families with changing schedules. It publishes no daily rate on Starting Blocks, so what it costs against the two below cannot be established from the register — ask before you compare. Consistently strong parent feedback confirms ongoing parent satisfaction.

Best for: Families seeking flexible care options (occasional, casual, flexible care), larger capacity, and competitive fees.

What parents say

My child attended Bayside ELC for over two years. I can honestly say the care the educators have for the kids is second to none. We tried another centre in the area also, but Bayside was a winner for us. Our child made friends and learnt social skills. The educators helped with school readiness to ensure they were ready for primary school. The staff turnover is surprisingly low which makes it easier for our child to settle in each day and helps us as parents navigate through these early years. The centre do a lot of fun excursions for the kids and parties for the families. We could not recommend Negar and the team any higher. Thank you to all the team at Bayside ELC.Damien S via Google
Could not speak more highly of the care my child has received with Negar at her family daycare. She is so experienced, kind and provides such a beautiful environment for her children. It was a no brainer for us to transition our child across to Bayside Early Learning Centre - the space looks so beautiful!!!Teghan Rawson via Google

The team at Goodstart Mentone are truly special. We have been with the centre for almost 2 years and have nothing but positive experiences to share. Our child is well known across all staff, not just the educators in the room. The philosophy of belonging, care and focus on the child is felt strongly, from management, key educators and casual educators.
