Childcare in Inner Melbourne

This guide gathers the suburbs we cover close to the city: Fitzroy and Richmond in Yarra, Coburg in Merri-bek, Preston and Reservoir in Darebin, Prahran in Stonnington, and South Yarra, which straddles the Melbourne and Stonnington council boundary. They sit together here for convenience, not because they form one childcare market. A family in Reservoir and a family in Richmond are weighing different things, so read each suburb page as its own comparison rather than ranking across them.

South Yarra and Prahran now have a ranking each, so families near the line between them may want to open both. Preston and Reservoir are neighbours within Darebin, so if you live near the boundary it is worth opening both. Each card below names the ranked centres in order, and every suburb page sets out the NQS rating and when it was issued, the published daily fee and what that fee includes.
